Reviewed by Dr. File FinderGreetings and Welcome! I'm glad you could stop by to check out my Picks for this week. I've been keeping really busy and as always I've been looking at lots of good software.

Super Flexible File Synchronizer, by Super Flexible Software is a powerful tool for synchronizing multiple computers or backing up important data. Synchronizing is another way to "backup" your data if you have more than one computer. Two desktops, desktop and laptop, etc. Example: My email program is on my computer and it's also on my office managers computer. To keep it backed up, just in case, I have Super Flexible File Synchronizer to make the mirror copy on the other computer. I have it do this twice daily because I deal with a lot of email. And, if something should happen to my computer, I know I have a backup of my email program on the other computer. Very slick. The program lets you schedule times when programs will synchronize. This baby has an impressive list of features that could take pages to tell you about. Suffice it to say that this is one of the more powerful and flexible synchronization/backup programs I've ever tried, and I've tried them all!

Super Flexible File Synchronizer, by Tobias Green, is a powerful program that's also very easy-to-use. The interface is intuitive and the program is perfect for both new and experienced users. You can choose from a wide range of settings to get exactly the results you want, whether it's a mirror image of a program or syncing the files on multiple computers. You can use it to sync your PC with you laptop, your laptop with you PC, and more. The program also supports data encryption, ZIP files, and even FTP sites. The scheduler is a really handy feature that lets you keep things synchronized without intervention if you desire. I always recommend that you make sure you're around for a few times when scheduled items run, just to make sure. So, if you'd like to synchronize files, folders, programs, and more, take a good look at Super Flexible File Synchronizer -- you won't be disappointed -- I recommend it!

AI Roboform , by Siber Systems is a great program for filling in forms with one click, keeping track of all your passwords, and more. Wherever you go on the Internet, you're going to encounter a lot of forms! If you get tired of filling them out take a look at AI RoboForm. This is a really cool program that integrates with Microsoft Internet Explorer, version 4.x and above. It places a "Fill Forms" button in the Internet Explorer toolbar, where it's easy to get to. And you can customize just what the program places in the toolbar, which is a nice feature. The program uses artificial intelligence (AI) to "read" a form off a Web page. Then, when you click the button, it places all the requested information into the form!

AI RoboForm has several great features not found in similar programs I've looked at. For example, if you have more than one person using your computer, the program allows for multiple "identities." So, I have it set up for myself and my wife. That allows to fill in forms using different information. For software developers who submit their programs to Internet sites, AI RoboForm has an "App Upload" option that automates filling out the upload forms encountered on shareware sites. The program will also remember all of your logon names and passwords, and if you tell it to, it will log you on to sites without a lot of hassle. Another great feature that everyone can appreciate is that the program is absolutely free! This is one that I won't be without. Check it out!

Dewq's No More Spam, by Dewq's Tribes, Inc. is a really powerful tool for dealing with what has become, in my opinion, the absolute biggest problem on the Internet -- SPAM! Unwanted email. Garbage that clogs our inboxes ad nauseum. Dewq's NMS uses a heuristic engine that contains over 6,000 expressions and words. What this does is pretty cool. Think about it. The email address of the spammers change constantly, but their message does not. That is to say, they are all selling pretty much the same things. Sex-related, health-related, finance-related, -- you know what I mean. So, the heuristic engine looks for the message, and the parts of it, and this makes the program very effective.

At the same time, Dewq's No More Spam allows you to make your own rules both quickly and easily. It lets you monitor 25 email accounts, gives you two levels of protection, printable logs, a quarantine folder, and three different levels of surveillance. And, when you're on the road, it has a "Travellite" feature that's really slick. And, it helps you to get your email done fast! There's also a special version for users of Outlook. So, if you're looking for something to help deal with the junk email, take a really good look at Dewq's NMS. It's one of the most fascinating and intriguing programs I've seen in quite awhile! Try it!

CoffeeCup Flash Blogger is a brand new program makes it easy for anyone to create a blog. And, for those who don't know, a "blog" is kind of like an online journal. A record of what you do, what you think, pictures of your family, and the like. Blogs are part of RSS feeds phenomenon. What is RSS? It stands for "really simple syndication" and there'll be an article on that tomorrow in the Tell Me About... column. CoffeeCup Flash Blogger will let you create your own blog in a snap. The program has its own calendar, a number of good templates you can customize, gives you the ability to put images in your blog, and more. You don't need to understand HTML or XML coding in order to have your own blog. Don't wait for me, I'll get to the full review when I can, but go check it out for yourself!

Macro Express is a powerful macro program that's perfect for both new and experienced users. The program has a large number of wizards which can guide you through the creation of macros. And macros can be a real time-saver, helping you to do repetitive tasks quickly and easily. Use it to launch programs, insert frequently used text, visit Web sites, create your own pop-up menus, and lots more. Macros can even be scheduled to run when you aren't there. Macro Express is currently being featured in our Shareware Spotlight so take the time to check it out. I'll get to the full review as soon as possible.

Microsoft OneNote 2003 is a really slick, free-form database that makes it easy for you to keep notes, pictures, and more. And you can utilize all different kinds of information, which is really cool. It's fully compatible with all of the other programs in Microsoft Office and that's a huge benefit right there. By "free-form" I mean that unlike a traditional database, you can put information in the way you want, and that's always important to me. You can even drag and drop things on OneNote 2003 which makes it easy to add to your date. It's a great tool for getting and keeping organized. And what's even better is that OneNote 2003 not only works on desktop and laptop computers, but it also work on the increasingly popular "Tablet PCs". So, take the time to check it out. You get a 60-day trial. I'll get to the full review as soon as possible.

Comments PRN - This section "Comments PRN" means comments "as needed" and I think a comment is needed today. I'm responsible for the Shareware Industry Awards and this year, for the first time, we have several programs nominated that are created by big companies. Microsoft and Google. I've received a number of emails saying that big companies shouldn't be eligible, and I feel the need to respond to that. The purpose of the Shareware Industry Awards is to honor some of the best programs marketing under the shareware marketing concept. Can you download it? Can you try it for a reasonable time? Are most of the features working? If any program meets that criteria -- if you can "try it before you buy it" then a program qualifies as "shareware".

In the beginning, (sounds kind of Biblical), there were the 'commercial' companies and the shareware authors. And to me, having been around since the beginning, it's truly gratifying to see the "shareware marketing model" become the standard. What a real triumph that is for all the pioneers in shareware. What an accomplishment -- to change the way software is sold around the world. Very few software companies today don't have a trial version. The shareware authors were right -- people do like to try before they buy and now nearly all software is available that way. So, I'm not going to avoid doing reviews of "shareware" programs from Microsoft or Google or Eudora or anyone else just because they are big companies. They realized what was the best way to market software and implemented it. Good for them -- and you! And I'll be sure to tell you about their products.

Well, once again, that's all I have time for this week. Too bad the week isn't longer because I could write about software all day long. Today I evaluated program number 214,049 and I still enjoy it as much as program 1. I hope you'll join me again next week when I'll be back with more great software programs to tell you about. Until then, I'd appreciate it if you checked out the other editorial that's available here on the new Tucows. Let us know what you think. Till next week, have a wonderful weekend, never go to sleep angry, and happy downloading.
